THE NON-ENHANCED SYSTEM IS An OLD SYSTEM.THIS SYTEM DID NOT HAVE ADVANCED COMPUTER SYSTEMS LIKE TODAYS CARS. THEY USED "VACUUM PURGE" THAT WORK WITH THE ENGINE'S VAUUM. THESE OLDER SYSTEM COULD NOT CHECK FOR LEAKS; ECM DID NOT EVEN KNOW FOR SURE IF THE CLEANING PROCESS HAPPENED. THE NEW OR ENHANCED EVAP SYTEM CAN PERFORM PURGE, CHECK FOR ANY LEAKS USING SPECIAL SWITCHES AND SENSORS.
2012 NISSAN FRONTIER SL 4.0L
DURING THE INSPECTION FOUND, DTC P0451 EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM PRESSURE SENSOR. THE EVAP CONTROL SYTEM PRESSURE SENSOR DETECTS PRESSURE IN THE PURGE LINE. THE SENSOR OUTPUT VOLTAGE TO ECM INCREASES AS PRESSURE INCREASES. DURING THE TEST THAT I DID THE PRESSURE INCREAES BUT THE VOLTAGE STAY IN 4 VOLTS. IT NEVER CHANGED SO I FOUND A OPEN CIRCUIT IN THE SENSOR. REPLACED IT, CLEAR CODES, PERFORMED A DRIVE CYCLES AND PASSED THE TEST AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAY OFF. CLIENT WAS HAPPY AFTER THIS REPAIRS BECAUSE NO BODY CAN FOUND THE PROBLEM ON HIS CAR.
